The flavour begins with the cacao itself. Our beans are sourced from farms in Kerala and Karnataka, where cocoa is cultivated in the humid tropics, often within coconut and arecanut-based farming systems. With no dominant added flavour, this bar is designed to let Indian cacao take centre stage.

Dark chocolate has no fixed season, making Rooted 65% Dark an all-year chocolate. Its balance of cacao intensity and sweetness makes it equally suited to everyday tasting, cooler winter evenings or a small after-meal indulgence.

Make

Farm-grown Indian cacao is carefully processed and stone-ground in small batches, then balanced at 65% cacao with our chosen sweetener profile. The result is intended to remain approachable while retaining the deeper roasted, fruity and bittersweet notes of the cacao itself.

Tradition

Cacao is not ancient to India, but it has found a distinctive agricultural home in the country's southern plantation belt. ICAR records cocoa as an important intercrop in India's coconut and arecanut gardens; Rooted celebrates this evolving Indian cacao tradition by putting origin ahead of flavouring.
